Welcome to the Dining Car!
Try something different
The panel in the Museum of Anthropology in Vancouver, BC containing the words above, written by Ralph Regenvanu, has stayed with me from the very moment I first read it. Food is such an important part of life and brings people together. I’ve always said that it’s the one thing in life that we absolutely need to do, so we may as well do it well.
There’s little point in travelling thousands of kilometers away from home just to go and eat food that you usually get from down the block. On The Coddiwomple Express we celebrate the new and the different and everything about a cuisine that makes it special and unique. Nothing is too strange so long as it was prepared with the intention of being eaten – this isn’t about trickery or daring someone to do something stupid. The dining car is the place to read about some of the many amazing meals that have been served on The Coddiwomple Expresss whether it’s a michelin star restaurant or lazy self-catering from the farmer’s market – every country does it differently.
What is culture?
“When asked to define what ‘custom’ or traditional culture was, the late Chief Kowia of the Island of Tanna in Vanuatu took a moment to think and reflect on the question before smiling and saying, ‘food’.”

Check the map. My location is always changing
With no fixed address I can be tough to reach, that’s my bad.
However, I do love hearing from people so give it a shot. What’s the worst that can happen? Be sure to check the map to stay up to date on The Coddiwomple Express’ current whereabouts and if you want to get in touch try sending an email. My telephone number will always change as we travel from country to country but that’s part of the fun. Find me on facebook at “iandek” or follow The Coddiwomple Express on Instagram.
